Hans-Otto Krohn, together with his wife Christel, has dedicated himself to Holstein riding horse breed on his farm on the North-East coast of Dithmarschen for several decades with passion, great expertise and very considerable success.
First, there were only two mares in the 60s. Soziale v. Löwenjäger (line 4303) produced four fillies, including the extremely fertile state premium mare Godela v. Sable Skintflint xx with 15 descendants.
From these foals, the state premium mare Pallas v. Lamour, from which the mare Vegola emerged in mating with Caletto II.
She later became dam of the stallion Aletto v. Athlet, who was positioned in Oldenburg. The second important mare was Ondria v. Ronald-Lopshorn (line 5401). Paired with Cantus, this produced the stallion Cristobal, who won the National Championships in 1994 for six-year-old show jumpers.
Hans-Otto Krohn cooperated with Maas Johannes Hell, who had started very early to build up a rearing farm, stallion and trading stable in Klein-Offenseth. This meant that Hans-Otto Krohn not only had an extremely competent advisor, but also had contact to a broad group of buyers at home and abroad. Later on, a closer business cooperation with Peter Nagel-Tornau was established. At the end of the 1990s, Hans-Otto Krohn had even set up a stallion station on his farm for several years. Stallions such as Calypso VI, Liostro and Rocadero were used there, which were owned by Tjeert Rijkens.
Over 23 years ago Hans-Otto Krohn succeeded in establishing good business contacts with the Dutchman Paul Hendrix, who has an excellent name in the international horse trade. Since then he has accommodated a large number of young horses for breeding in the Krohn stable. As a cosmopolitan person who was always willing to look beyond his own breeding and sales activities, Hans-Otto Krohn also found a close and still successful connection to the jumping and breeding stable of Wolfgang Brinkmann, based in Herford. From him, the Krohn stable has, in addition to various young horses for breeding, also a large number of selected broodmares that have been tried and tested in sport as pension horses in its stables.
In future we want to face progress openly and lead our family business into the future with commitment and courage. We are well prepared for this through our know-how, our horses and our customers.
